Creativity: God's Gift; Our Delight!

“ Creativity is    intelligence   having  FUN ” Albert Einstein For the second year in a row, our church offered a special children’s event at Christmas. The kids enjoyed breakfast, music, a Christmas story, and then visited interactive project tables where they could create unique items to give as gifts.  After the kids finished, the volunteers had the opportunity to create something. So what did I do? I headed over to the robot-making table where I made a metallic creature out of a tin can. I glued on nuts, bolts, wires, beads, and buttons to give it a face and a personality.  It is incredibly fun to engage in such creative play! Last year I made a short robot; one with straight antennas and pink eyes. The Power of the Visual

“A visual image is a simple thing, a picture that enters the eyes.” Roy H. Williams God, as the ultimate creator, communicates his love through the many pictures he creates. I encourage you to take notice of specific aspects of creation that surround you. Talk to God about what you see, and ask him what he might want you to notice that expresses his heart for you. Through nature, God is able to teach us, speak to us, and provide for us. Have you ever closely observed the speedy and purposeful flight of a bumblebee, the effortlessness of a swimming otter, or the vibrancy of a dew-dropped rose? How easily we miss observing these pictures because we are distracted or preoccupied. Our lives easily can become propelled by the tyranny of the urgent, rather than the deliberate pause to observe the important. Why is this distinction important? Because although our lives are filled with responsibilities and tasks, if that becomes our overwhelming focus we lose sight of the things ...
